This week our group first began our discussion of amplifying Physicians for Peace’s multimedia presence by breaking down what the non-for-profit already has established to date. In regards to their fundraising strategy, P4P have no action/posts on Twitter asking for donations(at least a quick scan indicates such). One of our group members did notice that their Facebook page has a donation button that was run by Razoo. Razoo states that they take a 4.9% fee as well as a nearly 3% processing fee. Without these fees, P4P could be slowly raking in more proceeds for their fantastic cause. Our group then brainstormed a few ideas that P4P should potentially employ in the future.
The first idea is to bring in different schools(college/uni) and have them support through Greek, club and other types of student organizations. This could get P4P in the mind of youths and potentially recruit donations and new members. It would also be imperative to establish an easier donate button that is not a form on their official website. By having an easy-to-use button that can be easily shared over numerous social media platforms. Accompanied with these easily shared posts should be small excerpts about what specific donation amounts can do for a person in need. This gives people a small nudge and shows them the greatness they can contribute towards. Lastly, we would pair with a much cheaper provider and rid ourselves of Razoo. In regards to instagram, the company could shoot short videos posted of victims getting testimonials in the form of “Physicians for Peace helped me…” For example a kid with a foot injury, “Physicians for Peace helped me by making foot better so I could play soccer with my friends…” or “so I could continue helping my mom take care of my brothers and sisters,” etc. This could conclude with individual testimonials.
Part of the final piece of conviction for the public in terms of donation comes from the dynamic conversation and discussion. Such a sensitive topic is something that reaches several different groups of people. Certain topics of conversation can be done daily to begin the education on a more consistent and accessible platform. A quick and informal form of information can be received well by the fast-paced generation and social media public. A formal outline will be employed on a schedule in connection with monetary needs of the organization.
